About the Event
This class will ask you to explore our relationship with your body, how you feel about our body, the connection between how your body is treated (by you and others) and how the Earth is treated (by you and others), the impact of patriarchy on women’s embodied experience, body trauma, what it means to fully-inhabit your body, the effects of the male gaze, various types of body-to-body intimacy, what it looks like to make peace with your body, how to feel free, how to be well, and more.
What this class is NOT: a yoga class, a movement class, a diet/nutrition class, an exercise class, a one-size-fits all class, therapy, a prescription for “success,” an exercise in pushing you beyond your comfort zones
What this class IS: an invitation to take an expedition into your deepest self - at the juncture of body, mind, & soul - in a safe and supportive community of women
Each class in the series will each feature some combination of the following: individual and group activities, assessments, & exercises; journaling; guided visualizations/meditations; listening to and exploring myths, folktales, and other stories; small creative projects; some lecture (on history, physiology, movement dynamics, using imagination, etc.); group discussion; some gentle movement/yoga postures; suggested homework; and listening circles.
I hope this series will help you: 1) to feel a deeper sense of belonging and comfort within your body, 2) to feel greater body acceptance & worthiness, 3) to experience a deeper sense of grounding and connection to the Earth, 4) to feel less stress and more joy, 5) to experience community among women, 6) to become more comfortable feeling all of your emotions, 7) to emerge with a new respect for your embodied creative and imaginative powers.
This is a 10-session series of 2-hour classes. Class dates are on Mondays: Sept 13, Oct 11, Nov 1 & 29, Dec 27, Jan 24, Feb 14, March 7, Apr 4, & May 9
