The Art of Friendship

At a time during which loneliness is an acknowledged epidemic, how do we rediscover and nurture the lost art of friendship?

How do we define friendship, and how does this one word fall short of containing a vast array of human connections? How do we make friends? How & when do we keep or reconnect with old friends? What are the biggest road blocks to making meaningful friendships & how can we overcome them? What role does vulnerability - and our averseness to it - play in our ability to create lasting adult friendships? How do we navigate confused expectations, comparison, mobility, and loss? How do we feel about the “old-fashioned” concepts of loyalty, devotion, commitment, and trust? What do we long for in a friend? How can we be the kind of friend we want to have?

We’ll explore these questions and more (such as facing the awkward of new systems and “defining the relationship”) as we tackle the project of becoming better cultivators and keepers of friendship in this fun, open, and pragmatic day-retreat. Come as a friend-pair and share the secrets of your success, or come solo to refine & define your needs and friendship-style. All are welcome!

We will also share two delightful, simple, and healthy meals during our day together - lunch and dinner.
